Raw Cashew Situation – 2019

  1. Vietnam has already processed most of the domestic crop as well as imports entering from neighboring countries.
  2. Indian harvest is still continuing in the central and eastern regions but the most important southern region is facing 40% crop loss.
  3. Tanzania is hunting for investors in the cashew sector.
  4. Indian buyers have a special liking for the Beninese origin nuts.
  5. Nigerian raw cashew exporters are totally looking towards India.
  6. Ivory Coast has a tilt towards Vietnam. But a Vietnamese buyer, even though supported by a ‘$3.40/Pound/W320 global market’ has to compete with the ‘$4.80/Pound/W320/market’, i.e the Indian domestic market.
  7. Tough time for the Vietnamese cashew industry.
