PRESERVE SCARCE INVENTORY TILL THE ARRIVAL OF A PROFITABLE MARKET

In India, workers full scale attendance has become a new problem of the cashew industry. Because of heavy rains and fear of another  recession, activities have slowed down in south Indian coastal fishing, construction and tourism. So, in the cashew industry workers attendance is said to be nearly 100% from last two months. Most of the small scale manufacturers are now looking towards import re-sellers for raw cashew nuts but they are totally bewildered by the recent 10-11% Forex variations. Cost of the Indonesian Flores variety import is now around Rs107-108/kilo.

So, when the kernel processing is a loss and the quality raw material is scarce as will as beyond reach, it is better to sit idle till the arrival of a profitable market than to produce and sell at a loss.
