According to Indian press reports, domestic raw cashew price is  Rs100/kilo in Palasa and local processors are now purchasing imported raw nuts from big re-sellers around Rs90/kilo. Palasa area has around 200 cashew factories but the raw cashew quality is not equal to Goa, Maharashtra or Karnataka quality. Earlier, the cost of  imported Flores raw cashew crossed the century mark and touched Rs107-108/kilo but it was due to currency devaluation. Stockists from Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka are now expecting more than a century/kilo. The press reports have pressed the panic button as the Indian cashew industry seems heading towards an acute shortage of raw cashew nut in this F/Y.
