Government of India’s step of increase in the import price minimum is not against Vietnam
India and Vietnam are always friendly nations. Both are members of WTO. A Vietnamese trader can easily import unprocessed cashew inventory from India. However, Indians cannot open a raw cashew purchase centre in Vietnam or in Cambodia for the purpose of exporting the unprocessed nuts to India. If this happens, Vietnamese farmers will get 20 – 25 per cent more income.
Government of India’s step of increase in the import price minimum is not against Vietnam. It covers all nations. Whenever dumping takes place or imports enter through fake/undervalued invoices, every country has a right to enact required rules to protect its own industry.
So India is not a follower of protectionist policies nor its rules go against the principles of the WTO. ……. ‘Indian move will bring cheers to the entire cashew sector.’
