Cashew Crop: Shifting from India

This entry was posted on Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011 and is filed under Cashew.
Both Indian and Vietnamese processors have now started raw cashew import contracts from Nigeria and Benin even if the prices are totally unworkable. According to some reports, this year’s Vietnamese crop  may be 20%. smaller than the usual because of  bad weather and farmers’ shift towards Rubber. Vietnamese farmer gets  $1.60/kilo( rawcashew),  where as the Indian farmer gets $1.90/ kilo (rawcashew). Interesting fact is that the cashew crop is slowly vanishing from southern parts of India but African countries are showing year on year increase.
