According to Vietnamese press reports, their cashew manufacturers are now losing $500/ton/raw-cashew. Some analysts have called on VINACAS to monitor raw cashew and cashew kernel prices, at least during this hard time. According to them, foreign importers are trying to bring down the price of W320 to $3.80/pound. VINACAS is said to be favorable to them and most probably warned local cashew kernel exporters that if the enterprises offer to sell at less than four dollars and get involved in trade disputes, VINACAS will not settle the case. So, to be on the safe side, buyers and sellers should fix W320 prices above the cost of production, which should be in accordance with factory wise and area wise grading standards.
