Experts have predicted that the Benin raw cashew sale will begin around $1050 per ton. But now the actual forward trade is taking place just around $925 to $950 per ton. Expert view was that the Indian raw cashew new crop (Kerala origin) price will begin around Rs57 to Rs58 per kilo. But defying all expectations, this price is now around Rs62 to Rs64 per kilo for February delivery ($1340 to $1380 per ton). These nuts have 7% to 8% moisture and will attract state and central sales taxes besides transportation costs. Yield difference between Benin and Kerala raw cashew is only around 8%. So what is going to happen when the shipment period arrives for Benin forward contracts!
